Thursday night at 5801 Video Lounge and Cafe in Shadyside, the Pittsburgh Fringe Festival announced their lineup for their upcoming festival in May.

This is the very first year for the festival and many artists in the Pittsburgh area came to show their support. There was an introduction by Dan Stiker, founder and artistic director of the Pittsburgh Fringe, followed by a performance piece by “The Mad Muse” Lori Howsare. Then the names of companies that would be performing on the mainstage were pulled at random out of a hat.

Eighteen selections make up the mainstage, composed mostly of emerging theater companies or individuals located both around the Pittsburgh area and nationally. The festival promises to have something for everyone, including staged readings and family-friendly shows.

The Pittsburgh Stage also made its public debut at the party, with many people signing up to join throughout the evening.

The festival runs from May 2-4th and May 9-11th and the complete list of shows and companies, as well as other information, can be found on their website.
